Territory Mechanics

🛡️

Defense System

Territory defense is calculated from three layers that stack up to a maximum of 130 total defense.

Base Defense (max 50)
Determined by zone type. Downtown and Port zones have the highest base defense values.
Investment (max 50)
Spend crew treasury to permanently boost defense. Each investment level costs $2,000 and adds +10 defense.
Activity (max 30)
Earned when crew members commit crimes in your territory. Decays 10% every hour when inactive.

Zone Types

Each zone type has different income and defense multipliers. Higher value zones are harder to hold.

Contest System

When you contest a territory, a defense window opens. During this time, defenders can reinforce their position. The duration depends on zone type:

Downtown
60 min
Port
40 min
Market
30 min
Industrial
20 min
Residential
15 min

When the window closes, the contest is resolved with weighted RNG based on attack power vs total defense. Higher defense significantly increases win chance for defenders.

Contest costs are dynamic and scale based on territory activity to prevent rapid flipping:

+50%Per successful defense in the last 24 hours
+100%If territory was captured less than 2 hours ago
+50%If captured less than 6 hours ago
+25%Per failed contest by your crew in 24 hours

Several limits prevent exploits and encourage strategic planning:

3
Maximum Active Contests
Your crew can only have 3 contests running at once
2h
Attack Cooldown
Wait 2 hours before attacking a territory you just won
1h
Reclaim Cooldown
Wait 1 hour before trying to reclaim a territory you just lost

Territories generate hourly income that accumulates in your crew treasury. Use /turf-collect to claim it.

Pro Tip
Activity Defense: Have your crew commit crimes in territories you own to build up activity defense (up to +30). This stacks with other defense layers but decays 10% every hour when inactive.
Warning
Strategic Timing: Contest valuable territories during off-peak hours when defenders are less likely to reinforce. Check the defense window duration before attacking!
